The EURO 2020 matches to be played in Baku will offer opportunities and prospects for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). To support SMEs, the sales of products made by them will be organized in the EURO 2020 Fan Zone that will be set up in Baku and venues around the stadium.
The Small and Medium Business Development Agency (SMBDA) and the Association of Football Federations of Azerbaijan (AFFA) will cooperate for this purpose. Today, SMBDA and AFFA co-organized an event on the theme of “EURO 2020: Prospects for SMEs” with the participation of about 150 SMEs. The event participants were informed about how SMEs could benefit from prestigious events like European Championship 2020 and increase their sales opportunities, and responses were given to the questions that interested entrepreneurs.
SMBDA Board Chair Orkhan Mammadov noted that, along with contributing to the development of sports and in particular football in our country, the EURO 2020 matches to be hosted by Azerbaijan this year will also provide favorable opportunities for the sales of SME products. He stressed that, in the framework of cooperation between SMBDA and AFFA, special stands would be set up in the relevant area, where the matches will be played, to support the sales of SME products. Different foods products, memorabilia, gifts, clothes, etc. produced by SMEs are planned to be sold here. This cooperation will also contribute to the promotion of Azerbaijani products and enable the local and foreign football fans and guests of our city to use various services (sales, food and beverage) during the matches.
AFFA Executive Vice-President Elkhan Mammadov provided information about the matches to be played in Baku in the framework of EURO 2020, and emphasized that hosting of these matches is important for the development of not only sports, but also tourism and business sectors in our country.
At the event, a presentation was made on the topic of “EURO 2020 and business opportunities” and a film dealing with SMBDA’s activities was displayed.
Then, SMBDA and AFFA signed a Memorandum on supporting the SMEs during the EURO 2020 matches to be played in our country. The document was signed by SMBDA Board Chair Orkhan Mammadov and AFFA Executive Vice-President Elkhan Mammadov.
