Turkish president R.T. Erdogan intends to watch UEFA EURO 2020 in Baku


Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan is expected to visit Baku to watch the group matches of Turkey’s national team in EURO 2020. He said this in an interview to local TV channels.

Speaking to the media, Erdogan said that he already talked with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev about the matches.

"Ilham Aliyev is waiting for me in Baku. I might not go to Rome, but hopefully, I will go to Baku, watch our two matches there and qualify from the group" the Turkish president said in a TV program.


As was known in advance, three matches of Group A and one quarter-final match will take place in Baku Olympic Stadium. According to the draw results, the national teams of Turkey, Italy, Wales and Switzerland are placed in Group A. The schedule of the matches to be played in Baku is as follows:

The Italian national team, which is to compete in Group A, will play all of its three group matches in the Stadio Olimpico, in Rome.
